Pretty in orange and bright red, politicos in AD

AD has compiled a little slideshow of “some of the people involved in America’s political landscape

My own AP ( as in Apartment Profiler) first was about to lash out his dismissive, snobbish, condescending design lectures – the flashy colours, upholstery, the pure brightness, golden frames – but, surprisingly after he examined the complete slideshow, he had this to say:

Ridicule and Mockery aside: isn´t it refreshing to actually not be confronted with yet another boring, generic livingroom/ home setting, being dictated by “common taste” and unspoken “decor” standards , that somehow color all rooms in white or pleasant beiges and everywhere seen and placed couches and sofas, as seen numerous times in IKEA catalogues, BoConcept , Roche-Bobois showrooms…..
This place is so bold and full of life. It literally boasts of courage and individuality.

But, it also shows that people involved in politics (professional) are on their own pace. At least, some of them.

It is nothing but an open invitation to think outside each one´s personal box and be it orange, red, gold and whatever.
It made me curious to see more homes, but of republicans. (Because Matalin is republican, so there´s the boldness. Just think about it.)

If you don´t follow my remarks, take a look at this livingroom. It pales in comparison. Surprisingly, not?

Here´s a detailed article on Matalin and Carville and their home: (AD edition January 2008) “Opposing views unite in a bold design vision near the capital”

Thoughts on silence

December 9, 2008 kyliedust Leave a comment

Currently I have so much work to do. There ´s hardly time for anything less than work. I barely have enough time for my kids. I am happy to work, especially in these days, but still, I arrive late at night and leave early in the morning, and during the day I wonder what type of life this is.
I started to work on this post quite some time ago, but as usual there was always something else. In the meantime WordPress has changed again. Ha ha,

My thoughts on silence – well.

The power of silence. Elegant, beautiful, misleading, sophisticated or both. Silence is open for subtlety. And there is the deafening, screaming, shameful silence.

There are numerous proverbs on silence and it´s merits. And there are equally enough on it´s damage.

Both ends.

Lately , I am nothing but looking for silence. On banal matters, there really is nothing classier than not commenting on everything.
When I think of silence in postive terms, I envision Sarah Palin being quiet.
But that is just whishful thinking. Wouldnt it be nice, if she could just silently fade away? Or any other self-absorbed politician.

Negatively, I regard silence as the most cowardly, inhuman/human strain that produces more problems. When I think of Bosnia, I think of the silence of the western world. Cultured silence during the war. When all the patterns and warning signals were ignored.

Silence – at worst, deceives you, leads you into thinking – when I say nothing, I am not involved. But the moment you witness something, you catch a glimpse, you get an idea, you start having a feeling- , you are involved.

Being involved and being silent, does that concept work?

I read this the last days:

  • Huffington Post: Christiane Amanpous insightful interview
on her documentary on genocide….. here
  • and here is a more detailed coverage on her documentary Scream Bloody Murder

That documentary is being broadcast on CNN.
